A Better Way To Make The Things That We Love

Brilliantly Made highlights products and businesses that are abandoning the old model of extract, make, use, and throw away and moving towards future-focused business models that are regenerative. We explore how design can both improve the human experience and help preserve the natural environment. Brilliantly Made focuses on the cross section where the Circular Economy meets Human Centered Design.

Created from a passion for design, business and a desire to preserve our environment, Brilliantly Made’s goal is to spread awareness of products that are more responsibly made and to inspire entrepreneurs, business leaders, designers, engineers and marketers to help build an exciting future.

“We are approaching a cliff… Our next step can send us crashing down or we can turn around and take that step in another direction…” It’s time to make that step.

Quote from a conversation between Yvon Chouinard (founder of Patagonia) and Douglas Tompkins (founder of The North Face) in the film "180° South".

Premise:

Anything we make is inevitably going to have a negative impact on the environment. However, Brilliantly Made hopes to inspire a better approach. An approach that increases efficiency, reduces impact and serves the people it is made for. The truth is that we live in a consumer-centric world, and while reducing consumption is the best, it is not likely that this will become a mainstream practice anytime soon, due to the fact that our economy relies on consumption and behavior change is really hard. It exciting to see companies big and small realize that a Circular Economy approach is good for business. Our mission is to highlight the companies moving in this direction and engage in a discussion about how to improve the way in which we make and design the things that we love.
